Sunday 22nd: We leave home this morning and take the afternoon ferry from Holyhead to Dublin, then a short drive to our overnight hotel.
Monday 23rd: We leave the hotel after breakfast and make our way to today’s first excursion, an hour-long cruise on the Shannon and Lough Derg with stunning views and local folklore tales. We then continue to the heritage village of Adare before continuing to our hotel for the next two nights.
Tuesday 24th: This morning we take the ferry across the Shannon to Listowel to experience the unusual recreation of the 1888 Lartigue Monorail train. Next it’s on to the Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum where we see the world’s only full size, B314 replica flying boat from the era 1937 – 1945.
Wednesday 25th: Travelling via Tipperary and the Rock of Cashel, we enjoy a trip on the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway, enjoy the beauty of the panoramic views, the river, rolling farmland and mountains. Later we check in to our next hotel for two nights.
Thursday 26th: Today we enjoy a guided walking tour of Ireland’s oldest city, Waterford. After time exploring, we head to New Ross and the Dunbrody Famine Ship, an authentic replica of a 19th century famine ship.
Friday 27th: We leave after breakfast and make our way to Dublin and the early afternoon ferry to Holyhead. On arrival we continue homewards, arriving later in the day.
