Tuesday 5th: We travel north to Southport leaving after lunch to Preston and check-in at the Preston Marriott.
Wednesday 6th: Leaving after breakfast to Leighton Hall Estate. This lived-in country house has been the ancestral home of the famous furniture making Gillow dynasty since 1822. Hear the story of Robert Gillow – his innovative designs are what brought the family success and prominence and their furniture can now be seen in Government and homes of English aristocracy. We return to our hotel via Morecambe.
Thursday 7th: This morning we visit Samlesbury Hall. Included will be a 90 minute out-of hours guided tour with the estate’s very own Witch, Janey. Samlesbury Hall is renowned as one of the most haunted locations in Britain with resident spirits including the legendary White Lady. You can also discover the story of the Samlesbury Witches. This afternoon we will spend time in St Annes on Sea whose town centre has been completely regenerated over recent years. Take a stroll along the promenade in St. Annes, past the bandstand and Promenade Gardens and you’ll find the beautifully preserved Victorian Pier.
Friday 8th: We return home after breakfast and call at Oswaldtwistle Mills, a former weaving mill with over 100 retailers all under one roof offering everything from contemporary furniture and stylish fashion to gifts, textiles and home furnishings. We then continue to Bury famous for its market which will be open today.
