Your Itinerary

Sunday 25th: We set off on our journey for the short sea crossing to Calais and our overnight at the Post Hotel Liege.

Monday 26th: After breakfast we continue through Germany into Bavaria and onto the Hotel Hohenauer for check-in and a 3 course set meal this evening.

Tuesday 27th: Passau is known as the “city of three rivers” due to its unique position as the point at which the three rivers of the Danube, Inn and Ilz meet, and this morning we enjoy a 45 minute three rivers sightseeing cruise. We see the colourful buildings and Italian flair of Passau as well as its historic attractions from the waterside as we cruise by. In the afternoon, we spend time at leisure exploring the Baroque Old Town of Passau which was designed by Italian architects in the 17th century. Main attractions to see include St Stephen’s Cathedral which houses the largest organ in the world, the 13th century Veste
Oberhaus Fortress and the Mariahilf Monastery.

Wednesday 28th: This morning we enjoy a guided walk through the treetops at the Bavarian Forest Treetop Walk. At a height of 8-25 metres above the forest floor and with an overall length of 1,300m, the treetop walk is among the longest of its kind worldwide and provides a memorable stroll through nature. From here, we continue on a scenic drive through the Bavarian Forest, passing the Grosser Arber Lake and mountain, the highest peak in the Bavarian Forest. Next, we head to Bodenmais where we visit Joska World of Crystal for a fascinating glass blowing demonstration

Thursday 29th: We have a day at leisure in our resort today. Relax and enjoy the hotels facilities or make use of the local bus and rail services to further explore the Bavarian Forest.

Friday 30th: Today we travel to the southern Bohemian region and visit the historic town of Ceský Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the Czech Republic. Surrounded by unspoilt countryside, the town has 300 protected buildings in the historic centre, one of the largest castle complexes in central Europe and the oldest Baroque theatre in the world. We enjoy a guided tour of the castle including Saint George’s Castle Chapel, Eggengerg Hall with the golden carriage and Masquerade Hall, after which we have time at leisure to explore the medieval streets, shops and cafés along the banks of the Vltava River.

Saturday 31st: This morning we start to head for home retracing our steps through Germany to the Post Hotel Liege.

Sunday 1st: After breakfast we continue our journey as we head north to Calais for our afternoon sailing to Dover from where we continue our homeward journey.
