Friday 2nd: Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Leicestershire and
arriving late afternoon at Ullesthorpe
Saturday 3rd: This morning we drive to the historic market town of Melton Mowbray,
famous for its pork pie and quality cheeses. A visit to Ye Olde Pie Shoppe is a must and
you can also visit the Cheeseboard shop where you can taste and buy the area’s most
famous cheeses. Enjoy a stroll around the town and Saturday Market. In the afternoon we
have a guided tour of Belvoir Brewery followed by a tasting of three ales and a buffet of
homemade produce
Sunday 4th: After a leisurely breakfast we head for Oakham, county town of Rutland, for a
short stop. From here we make our way to the famous Barnsdale Gardens, created by the
late Geoff Hamilton, and Gardeners World. The gardens comprise 37 individual gardens
and features all blended together by the borders into one eight acres garden. Our visit
today ends with Cream Tea – tea/coffee, scone, jam and cream. A pleasant way to end the
day before we return to the hotel.
Monday 5th: We return home after breakfast via Stratford upon Avon.
