London VE Day Celebrations

London VE Day Celebrations

When VE Day dawns on 8th May 2020 it will be 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the war in Europe. Years of carnage and destruction had come to an end and millions of people took to the streets and pubs to celebrate peace. Join us as we travel to London for a very special anniversary concert at The Royal Albert Hall.

Your Itinerary

Friday 8th: Morning departure travelling to Bletchley Park, once Britain’s best kept secret. Today Bletchley Park is a unique heritage site and vibrant tourist attraction. Explore, experience and enjoy the top-secret world of iconic WW2 code-breaking huts and blocks set within its atmospheric Victorian estate. We continue to our hotel for check-in and an early dinner before we travel the short distance into London where this evening, exactly 75 years to the day, the Royal Albert Hall will host a special concert of commemoration and celebration to mark ‘Victory in Europe’ Day. Featuring the Royal Philharmonic Concert
Orchestra, plus very special guests, VE 75 will be a concert of epic, stirring and emotional music from some of the greatest British composers – from Elgar’s Nimrod to Walton’s Spitfire Prelude & Fugue; from Holst’s Planet Suite to Ron Goodwin’s Battle of Britain Theme.

Saturday 9th: We spend free time in London to enjoy the atmosphere on this special day and perhaps you may wish to visit the Imperial War Museum. We depart for home late afternoon.
