Wednesday 20th: Today we visit Rye with its quaint charm of the 18th century cobbled
streets and breathtaking views of Romney Marsh. This afternoon we visit Great Dixter
House & Gardens – the family home of the late Christopher Lloyd, who devoted his lifetime
to creating one of the most experimental, exciting and constantly changing gardens of
our time. It was the focus of his energy and enthusiasm and fuelled over 40 years of books
and articles. Now under the stewardship of Fergus Garrett and the Great Dixter
Charitable Trust, Great Dixter is an historic house, a garden, a centre of education, and a
place of pilgrimage for horticulturists from across the world.
