Elton John - Resorts World Arena, Birmingham

John said: “The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will take us to many places that have meant a lot to me over the last 50 years, but these UK shows will be incredibly special. “The UK is home, and where my heart will always be. To celebrate some of the incredible moments we’ve shared with my British fans over the years will be wonderful. These homecoming shows will be very emotional, and a lot of fun.”

While this will be John’s final live tour, he is adamant this is nothing to do with his health. “If you’re going to do 300 shows, you’re not in ill health,” he said. He also confirmed he will continue making music. ‘A celebration of one of music’s true living legends’ John has already started the groundbreaking tour, which is named after his 1973 album. He kicked on in Pennsylvania on 8 September, and is currently playing dates at New York’s Madison Square Gardens. John will remain in the States until May, when he will begin the European leg in Vienna. The tour spans five continents in total, and won’t end until 2021.

Rolling Stone described the 24-song set as “the most bombastic, elaborate, high-tech arena show he’s ever attempted”. And the New York Post said: “Hardly a sad night but more of a celebration of the career of one of music’s true living legends.” John is now 71, and his career has spanned six decades. He’s sold more than 300 million records worldwide, and has more than 50 Top 40 hits.
