Your Itinerary

Thursday 14th: We depart in the morning travelling to Oxford, city of dreaming spires. We have time to obtain lunch and explore the city with its magnificent University buildings.

Friday 15th: This morning we visit Dorney Court for a 2 hour guided tour of the house and adjacent church followed by tea, coffee and cake. We travel on to Henley-on-Thames, probably most famous for its annual Royal Rowing Regatta and featured in many episodes of Midsomer, and enjoy a relaxing one-hour cruise on this lovely stretch of the Thames. Then have some free time to do your own thing, perhaps have some lunch or enjoy its historic architecture, specialist shops and cafes. Alternatively walk along the river to take in the River & Rowing Museum or see the beautiful church where Dusty Springfield is buried.

Saturday 16th: Our first stop today is Dorchester-on-Thames, one of the prettiest villages of Midsomer County, full of medieval, Tudor and Georgian buildings. An included walking tour will be followed by a little free time to give a chance to perhaps visit inside impressive Dorchester Abbey. We then head to the medieval market town of Wallingford, the capital of Midsomer County. We have an introduction to the town and discover its many Midsomer and Barnaby connections on a short walking tour. In the afternoon, an actor who has appeared as an extra in Midsomer will accompany you to the George Wallingford Hotel.
You will enjoy a cream tea and get first-hand information about the series, its characters and funny anecdotes.

Sunday 17th: After breakfast we head to Waddesdon Manor, a French Renaissance-style château. It has exceptional architecture, and one of the finest Victorian gardens in Britain. On arrival, we have a brief introduction about the Midsomer filming at Waddesdon. Following our visit we return home.
