Thursday 1st: We leave this morning and head for Henley on Thames were we enjoy a
relaxing 60 minute river trip on the beautiful Henley Royal Regatta Reach, a site which
featured heavily as the chairman’s murder site in ‘Dead in the Water’, between Marsh Lock
and Hambleden Lock. We continue to our hotel with time to relax and perhaps enjoy the hotel leisure facilities before dinner.
Friday 2nd: This morning we have a short drive taking us to Dorney Court one of
England's outstanding Tudor Manor Houses. Grade 1 Listed, acknowledged for its
architectural and historical importance while combining great character and warmth. The
House is home to the Palmer family, passing through fourteen generations, and hosts
tours, weddings, filming and events. We will enjoy a private tour of the house, which was
built in 1440 and has been lived in by the same family for over 450 years. Today we also
include an afternoon tea/coffee and cake. As we are so close to Windsor the remainder of
the day will be spent enjoying the wonderful historic town.
Saturday 3rd: After a leisurely breakfast we head north to Wallingford Museum. On
arrival, you will be met by Museum Tour Guides and given an introduction to Wallingford
and a half hour walking tour of its Midsomer connections. Wallingford Museum is a
colourful, delightfully intimate and family friendly local history museum, housed on two
floors of a medieval oak-beamed building in the heart of Wallingford in Oxfordshire, a
Thames-side town founded in the ninth century by Alfred the Great. Today we also include
a light finger buffet lunch at Wallingford. Leave during the afternoon for our journey home.
