Friday 11th: Depart from your home area travelling to North Yorkshire, arriving late
afternoon at the Best Western Burn Hall Hotel. Tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival.
Saturday 12th: This morning we drive to Pickering, where we fall into the 1940’s. Relive
the amazing spirit and camaraderie of World War II and enjoy the various re-enactments,
entertainment and vehicle displays. This weekend, the clock has been turned back to
when Britain was during a world war. See Military Vehicles and perhaps visit ‘The Sidings’
wartime street which includes Joan’s wartime hair salon, wartime traders and live
entertainment. The 1940’s weekend is not to be missed with attractions including singing,
dancing, workshops, parades and fashion shows. Whether you want to dress up in period
costume, or just enjoy some sightseeing and relaxation, it’s an excellent day out!
Sunday 13th: The ancient city of York is our destination today. The day is free to wander
the old streets of ‘The Shambles’, enjoy lunch in an old world pub, stroll the city walls, and
of course pay a visit to the magnificent York Minster.
Monday 14th: We return home via Eden Camp opened as a museum over 30 years ago
in 1987. Since then, with the help and support of visitors it have grown into one of the
largest and most comprehensive museums covering British military and social history from
1914 onwards.
