Friday 26th: This morning, we will enjoy a half day ‘step-on’ guided tour of Constable
Country, which will include Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the
area where John Constable lived and created most of his paintings, the chocolate-box
village of Lavenham, known as England’s finest medieval village, and Sudbury, birthplace

bustling Clacton-on-Sea and more relaxed Walton-on-the-Naze, returning later to the hotel.
Saturday 27th: After breakfast we travel to the delightful medieval market town of Saffron
Walden. A market has been held here since 1141, with market day on Saturdays. Don’t

famous for its Abbey Gardens and the Angel Hotel, where Dickens had Mrs Pickwick stay.
Sunday 28th: This morning we visit the breathtaking Beth Chatto Gardens created by ten
times Chelsea Gold Medal winner, Beth Chatto. During the Gardeners Tour we are given
an in-depth insight into the philosophy and history of Beth Chatto and her gardens.
We spend the rest of the day in Colchester, the oldest recorded town in the country. From a
Roman Temple, Norman Castle and medieval timber framed houses to Victorian
architectural splendour, there is plenty for us to explore at our leisure.
Monday 29th: After breakfast we leave and begin our homeward journey.
