Monday 25th: We arrive at our hotel, meet our hosts and enjoy a glass of mulled wine.
After time to settle in, we enjoy dinner followed by musical entertainment.
Tuesday 26th: After breakfast we depart for a full day visit to the capital city of Edinburgh.
Our first stop is an included visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia, home of her Majesty the
Queen and royal family for over 40 years. Follow in the footsteps of royalty to discover the
heart and soul of this most special of royal residences. We continue to the centre of the city
for free time. We return to the hotel for dinner and afterwards take part in a quiz.
Wednesday 27th: The Scottish borders is our destination today, taking in Galashiels,
Melrose and later we follow the Tweed valley to delightful Kelso, with impressive Floors
Castle, Scotland’s oldest inhabited castle. We make our way back via Selkirk, with its
associations with Sir Walter Scott. This evening we enjoy a Scottish evening with dinner, a
glass of wine or half pint of beer and afterwards enjoy some traditional music.
Thursday 28th: After breakfast we depart for the New Lanark World Heritage Site.
Discover the fascinating history of the impressive cotton mill village and the life and times
of mill manager and social pioneer Robert Owen. Be taken on a mesmerizing journey of
discovery by the ghost of mill girl Annie McLeod who magically appears and tells her story
of life in New Lanark in 1820. We return to the hotel for afternoon tea and scones. This
evening dinner will be followed by traditional board games.
Friday 29th: After breakfast we leave the Peebles Hydro and return home.
