Friday 13th: We travel to our hotel via the National Memorial Arboretum, home to over 200
significant memorials, representing military, civil services, local and overseas organisations
and charities.
Saturday 14th: After a full English breakfast we depart for our visit to Bletchley Park, once
Britain’s Best-Kept Secret now a unique heritage site and vibrant tourist attraction. Discover
a secret world, now revealed! Bletchley Park was home to the famous codebreakers of
WWII and the birthplace of modern computing. Various scenes in The Imitation Game were
filmed at Bletchley Park, with Keira Knightley and Benedict Cumberbatch who starred as
Alan Turing, the genius who cracked the Enigma code. We return via St Albans which
stands out as a unique English cathedral city. The city's colourful history can be seen in the
Roman remains and the beautiful medieval architecture.
Sunday 15th: Today we visit Audley End House and Gardens. Admire the interiors of what
was once one of the largest and most opulent houses in Jacobean England. One of
England’s finest country houses, discover the history of Audley End, wander the impressive
great hall, magnificent state apartments, intimate dressing rooms, libraries and 18th century
gothic-style chapel. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of life in the service
wing of this bustling country estate. N.B. There are approx 100 steps in the whole property.
Monday 16th: We return home after breakfast stopping at Stratford upon Avon.
