Sunday 2nd: Early start as we travel to Grassington for a break at their annual Dickensian Festival, where visitors are treated to a glorious array of sights, tastes and smells from the bygone era. The village is adorned in Christmas lights and the streets come alive with traditional markets with shopkeepers and villages dressed in traditional Victorian costumes, were sure you`ll agree it’s a lovely place to stop. After Lunch we will continue our journey to Newcastle in time to board our overnight cruise to Amsterdam. Sailing is at 5.00pm.
Monday 3rd: After breakfast we arrive in Ijmuiden port, (09.45am) and its time to board the coach and travel the short distance into the centre of Amsterdam. The dutch capital is famous for its excellent shopping, with everything ranging from huge department stores to trendy, unique boutiques to tempt you. We return mid afternoon for our return cruise to Newcastle. Sailing is at 5.30pm. Evening meal is once again supplied and then the evening is free to enjoy the on board entertainment and facilities.
Tuesday 5th: We arrive in port at 09.15am and disembark our cruise ship as we travel to the ancient city of York to enjoy the annual St Nicholas Fayre. This is one of the most popular events in the UK attracting thousands of visitors from all over the country. Bursting with medieval character the city really comes to life at this time of year with unique stalls selling all types of festive decorations, gifts and locally produced food and drinks! Stroll around the old cobbled streets with their half timbered houses, marvel at the gothic York Minster and perhaps explore the excellent museums. We depart late afternoon and commence our journey home.
